Addiction Therapy Online
I offer addiction therapy with a cognitive-behavioural approach for adults living in the UK. Therapy is aimed at addicts, as well as those who continue to suffer despite abstinence. I will help you identify the causes of your behaviour, work through negative behaviour patterns and understand yourself better. Is addiction therapy the solution for you?
You feel that a substance or behaviour does not serve you, but you are no longer sure if it is an addiction.
You have been diagnosed with addiction, but you have not decided to start treatment and now you feel that you can no longer cope.
You are overwhelmed by a sense of loneliness, isolation, or even social anxiety, and feel that there is no way out of this situation.
You are ashamed of your problem, you hide it, you are afraid that someone might judge you and you feel that no one would understand your situation.
You’re abstaining, but you still do not know any healthy techniques of dealing with relapses and certain emotions, such as anger or sadness.
You are ashamed of your problem, you hide it, you are afraid that someone might judge you and you feel that no one would understand your situation.
You feel like you are doing everything you can to get out of it and you still feel like you are at a standstill or keep going around in circles.
You recognise that your problem is the reason for the disintegration of your relationship with your partner, family, friends, or colleagues at work.
You experience inexplicable sadness or unfounded fear, as well as a sense of helplessness, mood swings, intrusive thoughts, or constant irritability for no discernible reason.
You know no better way to regulate emotions and manage negative thoughts than to reach for a substance or fall back into certain behaviours.
Your life does not need to go this way!
Many addicts live in complete social isolation. Even if they already recognise that they are ill, they try to cope with it on their own for a long time, often without success – usually because of their overpowering shame. Some of them have mastered hiding the problem from their loved ones.
They can avoid coming clean about their addiction to their family or even to themselves for years. As a result, their relationships with other people become strained or disintegrate, and they find themselves trapped by a paralysing sense of guilt that results in even more destruction.
Sometimes people with addiction believe that they do not feel the negative consequences of drinking alcohol or taking drugs. At the same time, they begin to notice initially inconspicuous symptoms – irritability, mood swings, sadness or anxiety. People with addictions often live in denial. They avoid their thoughts, shut themselves off from their emotions, and opt for quick fixes instead of searching for the source of their problem. If you feel that this applies to you, you need to know one thing – it is not your fault. Addiction is a disease and understanding this is the first step on the road to a better life.

My therapeutic experience
I have a master’s degree in social rehabilitation – rehabilitation of the incarcerated – and I have completed a postgraduate programme in addiction and co-addiction treatment. For several years I worked at a rehabilitation centre in Hemel Hempstead, where I supported people with addictions on a daily basis.
Since 2020, I have been working in the prison sector, where I practised as a cognitive-behavioural therapist. During addiction therapy, I focus mainly on a precise analysis of the difficulties you are experiencing. I then select appropriate techniques to help you cope with your problems better and recover faster. At every session you receive my unconditional support and understanding.
Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy
It is one of the most effective therapies in the world. Research shows that it yields extremely positive results for even up to 75% of people who have attended sessions regularly.
In cognitive-behavioural therapy you are the driving force and I, the therapist, am just an active participant in your discovery of your own needs and desires. You set the therapy objectives and then, with my assistance, attempt to meet them. My task is to conduct a motivating dialogue, identify the actual source of addiction and support you in overcoming it.
We focus on the ‘here and now’
You are assigned tasks to do at home
We work on your beliefs
We focus on change and self-awareness
With my support:
You will learn tools for emotion and thought management
You will acquire new tools to regulate emotions and thoughts – ones that will be a much more beneficial alternative to reaching for an addictive substance.
You will change your mental set-up
You will rid yourself of a feeling of helplessness, tension, mood swings, intrusive thoughts, unfounded fears, or constant irritability.
You will change your habits
Your sleep quality and appetite will improve, your sense of weakness will vanish, as will the various afflictions associated with temporary withdrawal from addictive substances.
You will stop reaching for harmful substances or activities
You will stop trying to control the addiction and stop convincing yourself that after temporary abstinence you can safely return to your old habits.
You will learn how to manage addiction relapse
You will know what to do in case of addiction relapses as well as how to successfully prevent relapsing, even when you’re going through a rough patch.
You will build a new addiction-free life
Even if it seems unattainable for you today. I will help you find meaning in your life again, and redirect your thinking about the future in a new direction.
You will accept the consequences of addiction
You will understand your problems and learn to solve them. You will gain a realistic perspective on your own behaviours and consequences of taking a substance.
You will improve your relationships
You will begin to understand others better and shake off the guilt that addiction is ruining your relationships. You will also learn to accept help from others and manage conflicts better.
How does it work?
01.
You book the first visit.
During your first session I will ask you what brings you to me, what you are struggling with, and what goals you want to achieve through psychotherapy. I will also ask you a series of questions about your current situation and your past, including your experience with various forms of mental treatment, if any. I will also explain what our subsequent meetings will entail if you decide to continue.
02.
We choose the initial direction of work focusing on your objectives
Using diagnostic tools, I will identify what problems you are facing (e.g., addiction, harmful behaviour, etc.) and together we will focus on a treatment plan. We will also select appropriate techniques to support the process of healing from addiction and manage relapse and difficult emotions.
03.
We decide on the frequency of your therapy sessions
During psychotherapy, it is particularly important that you attend sessions regularly. We will inform each other about holiday plans, sudden illnesses or other emergency situations that require the cancellation of a therapy session.
04.
Furthermore – you will receive free advice on other services in Hertfordshire and its vicinity.
05.
You can make follow-up appointments after completing your therapy.
If necessary, you can make an appointment with me at any time after you’ve completed your therapy.
Any doubts?
Of course! I would be surprised if you were brimming with nothing but self-motivation right now. As humans, we are programmed to stay in our safe comfort zone at all costs. I don’t know a single person who cheerfully dashed to therapy to talk about the embarrassing thoughts they’ve had or mistakes they made under the influence of the substances they are addicted to.
